Have you seen this, looks like our corrupt Governor is going to close some state parks. Some of which are very well visited.

Park closings an example of disregard for the DNR - Rockford, IL - Rockford Register Star (broken link)

Seems disgusting to me !!

I already sent his office an e-mail. I do not think he really cares about what the people of Illinois think, but it made me feel better.

Check your Property Tax bill and you will see that some of it is for the Parks, thats why they are free.It was one of the few things I liked about Illinois
(the free parks not the taxes). I wonder where that money is spent? Im sure its not spent on the Parks. It should be though. Another great smart move by the State.
Illinois is worse than California as far as taxes.California also wants to shut down some State Parks. Im not saying my State (AZ) is perfect though, its the entire government that has gone bad, some are worse than others though.

He's also cut back on Senior Services. If the state were to charge an entrance fee, it is not necessary to have anything but one gate and one collection point. There are a many ways to stop traffic besides a gate.

I guess he doesn't know how much tourism dollars generate! the guy is an dumb ***
You think he would know how many visitors go to these places and the amount of money that is generated before he does something so stupid. It would be nice if they could bring back the recall motion!!!!

Very upsetting business. State Parks are so important, and it's a real shame he doesn't understand that.

Sorry to hear about this guys. I never knew the IL state parks were free. I have to admit from pictures I've seen, Illinois offers some beautiful state parks.

What are they going to do with the land?
