Anyone else enjoying the weather? (Chicago, Kansas: buy, to live, centers)

Nice, eh? Nothing like being out in January in a windbreaker. I just hope we get some more snow, the last several years have been severely lacking in the snow department. I figure, if its winter, might as well have snow to play in!

This sucks balls. One reason I refuse to live further south than the Chicago area is because I like cold snowy winters. This winter has been abysmal. If I wanted 50 degrees and cloudy every day, I'd move to Seattle.

Oh trust me, I like snowy winters too, but I like a change-up thrown in here and there, keeps things interesting. It has been kinda cloudy, the last few days (at least out here in the far west burbs) have been quite sunny and very nice, albeit a bit windy.

I never complain about anything that keeps my gas bill down. Want snow? Western Kansas is the place for you this year.

I love the snow, but dislike rain (except on summer nights) that we've been getting instead of snow. There isnt much fun to be had in the rain as opposed to the snow. Oh well, Im just glad I didnt buy a snowmobile last year, or else Id be REALLY mad.

From what I've heard there is a big weather pattern change coming late in January. We'll get our cold and snow.

December has never really been horribly cold--its always been January and February...winter will come, sooner or later so I'll enjoy not having to deal with people who have no ^&)(*)(*_)^&&*%%^!!!! clue on how to drive when little puffy white stuff falls from the sky .

But, it should be noted that the US is now in a general warming of the climate. Since 1990, it has progressively gotten warmer on average throughout the country. Especially noticed in the northern areas of the country.

One group that has documented this is the National Arbor Society who have issued a new map of the growing season for the US. If one compares the old map from 1990 with the new map of 2006, all the climate zones have shifted northward to indicate the longer growing seasons now available.

So gardeners can now experiement with growing plants native further south from here. Some garden centers now have plants not normally grown in the area.

Its a sign of changes underway at least for now. I for one am enjoying the warmer winters we have had recently. No need to go south in the winter anymore. It is moving this way!!
