We received out electric bill today. It was 2.5 times higher than last month. It was the highest bill we've EVER received in over a decade of living here by over four hundred fifty dollars!

My first reaction, and that of my husband, was that they didn't receive our last payment. Nope--it was on there. I was in a bit of a panic, trying to figure out how it could have gone up so much. We were gone for several days in July and it was cooler than last July. There was just nothing that made any logical sense.

Husband just went and checked the meter and compared it to the bill. Some one misread something. They charged us for an extra 4000 plus kilowatt hours. Even a week later our meter is not even close to the amount they have listed. Based on our estimates, the bill probably should have been LESS than last month.

I don't know how this will turn out when we call tomorrow--but beware of Duke meter readers.

Just wait till they put the Smart meters in, reports of bills going way up, not to mention the sick health complaints after those EMR devices are installed!
Tell Duke NO to smart meters!
