I do believe that the Admirals are in the Marion County section of Geist, not sure how much Lawrence was hit.

I've been reading that it's been about 25% or more on the average. Hope they don't have a tax increase like this every few years.

Yep, just called the Lawrence Township Assessor and it's been a 25% hike. I wonder how many homeowners are happy about becoming members of the "$1,000 A Month Real Estate Taxes Club."

I read in the paper today that Mitch is considering throwing out the Marion county reassessment. That's fine I guess, but 5 years ago, Lake County went through the same thing as the Marion County folks are going through now ... why didn't they throw out that assessment? Oh yea, Lake County is the ugly stepchild in Indiana ... they get no respect. I wonder if Mitch were in power 5 years ago, he would have given Lake County some respect. My gut says no.

Fact is 80% of all tax bills are incorrect. 50% ARE TOO HIGH AND 50% ARE TOO LOW! Which one is yours?

You are correct. We're really considering moving to another county if it keeps going up. We'll see I guess.

they almost always tend to hit homeowners and their families the hardest. They are the folks whose incomes don't go up 30% or more each year. In fact, many are lucky to see any real increase, especially after taking into account higher fuel prices, higher food prices, etc.

The point is I am seeing a lot of false assumptions made in many reassessments. They simply don't comport with reality.

I have lived in hamilton county all my life all 35 years and the taxes have always gone up. Unless you are in the third or 4th year after a newly constructed home has been build then they start to go down and level off. For those of you who haven't been here very long just remember that Noblesville just got a new intermediate school and a new elementary school and a freshman campus and Fishers now has 2 high schools. If you look at your tax bill you will see that most of your taxes goes to the schools. Taxes didn't use to be like that here. They started messing aroud with the taxes to make everyone pay their fair share or so they think. When we bought our first house here the taxes were about $400.00 a year in downtown Noblesville. Now those taxes are pushing $1000.00 a year. The house insn't any nicer just a 2bd rm 1 ba house for the 1900's that needs a lot ot work and isn't worth much, but they want to tax everyone the same regardless of what the house is really worth. The least expensive taxes in hamilton county are in Sheridan and the Arcadia/Atlanta area but they also went up. We are also considering moving to a different state because of the taxes and job market here in hamilton and marion county. I am just thankful our taxes didn't increase like some of those unfortunate people in the meridian kessler area of marion county.
