Hi. I live in Chicago, but I need some help from you guys. I recently got a speeding ticket around Indianapolis (Clark Co.) for going 21 over. I will be 30 in January and this is my very first ticket of any kind. I do not want to go to court, seeing as how it is a 3 hour drive away. Since I really can't deny speeding or prove that I had any malfunctioning equipment, should I just send in a check for $150? Or should I take the time off and go to my court date? Would they lower it perhaps? Would that be worth it? Will this add many points to my license, causing my insurance to go up? I did try to research this stuff before posting, but I am not sure how tickets work when given in states other than where you reside.
Thanks in advance for your help/advice/thoughts!

Yes it will put points on your license, yes it will cause your insurance to go up and no they will not lower it.

However, you can contact the Clark Co. prosecutors office and see if you can qualify for the Safe Driver Diversion. You may not qualify due to prior tickets and going 21 over.

If it's your first ticket, the Prosecutor can reduce the speed over the limit and get you in the Traffic Ticket Diversion Program if he wants.

Do you know if I have to go to my court date for this to happen? Or could I call? I would really like to avoid driving that far if I could take care of it from Chicago.

Usually a phone call to the Prosecutor's office will be sufficient.

I don't know how it is here, but some places have specific times on a regular basis for people to go to court before their date to specifically settle traffic tickets, etc. It may be worth calling the courthouse in Clark County to ask if they have this option.

I was able to use this years ago when I got pulled for 15 over. Got it reduced to 9 over, paid $100 and no points on my license or changes on my insurance.
