Hi all,

I have seen a few of the discussions regarding some good churches, but I am looking for smaller, more-community oriented churches in downtown.

So far I know of:

Indy Alliance
IndyMetro
Response Church
City Church
Lockerbie UMC
Redeemer

Am I missing any others that I could give a try and visit? I thought some people may be able to layout a few more downtown churches that I may have no heard of.

I have a few friends who go to Redeemer and really like it. The church isn't really that small, but they do a lot of small group-type activities. And they seem to be fairly community oriented.

It seems like Indianapolis doesn't have the prototypical downtown type churches that exist in other cities. I think it may be related to how spread out the city is overall. I haven't leave here very long so I'm not sure either.

I'd love to actually see if others have more suggestions in the downtown area. Good luck on your search!

What exactly do you consider to be the "prototypical downtown type church?"

Can you elaborate on this point? I'm not sure what you mean.

In terms of denominational, established churches, there's St. Mary and St. John the Evangelist (Catholic) and Christ Church Cathedral on Monument Circle (Episcopal).

If you're willing to leave the downtown area just a bit, you may also like Common Ground, which is at about 45th and Illinois. They are highly community oriented.
