Right now I live in Greenwood, but am moving downtown soon. I work on the circle.

My question is this: I am often going to be working until around 12 or 1 in the morning. Will it be safe for me to ride my bike from the circle to my house on 14th and Pennsylvania?

Thanks!

Nobody has a crystal ball, so no one can say definitively whether or not you are going to be safe.

I know a few people that live in the neighborhood you reference and their only mode of transit is bike or walking. They've never had any problems at all. You are more likely to get run over than you are mugged; if that is what you are asking. I try not to ride on the street at night without lights on my bike. I've not been run down yet, but I do try to stick to the Cultural trail and stick to certain downtown streets when I do have to bike toward the circle.

I think you will generally be safe. That is a good location for bike-only transportation to downtown. I agree that you are more likely to be hit by another car than mugged. Try to stay visible and hit the sidewalks if you need to.

I ride my bike home every night, weather permitting. I work DT and used to live at 36th and Winthrop, used to monon, never had a problem (except for the cops one time, apparently it isn't to be used after dusk, oh well that didn't stop me and it only happened once). Now I live at Alabama and 12th. Never had a problem there either.
