Is Eagle Creek considered a declining area?
This should be a flagship for Marion County and a well regarded area, however it seems that the area is surrounded by low cost developments and rentals.
Would like to hear from people that live or lived there. I am particularly interested in the area around 56th st and Reed st. Is it safe? There seems to be a lot of property damage reported in the apartment complex near by in 56th st and alo by 46th st and Moller.
Do you feel safe going to nearby grocery stores, restaurants and driving by at night? what about using the trails and soccer fields right next to the Colts complex?
thanks in advance.

I would check out the Indy.gov crime stat map and see what type of crime is in the area.

The closer you are to eagle Creek the better, but it gets worse and worse as you move further east. 465 is the dividing line between nice and not so nice.

56th and Reed is nice

I used to live at 38th and Eagle Creek Prkwy, as recently as 3 years ago. I used to shop at the grocery stores and the Target right there on 38th Street and used those trails by the Colts complex with no trouble. I have a sibling near that area, east of the above referenced 465 dividing line. I've never had a problem over there. In fact, I rather enjoy that area by Eagle Creek.

East of 465, no quite as much.

My parents lived in that area for approximately 2 years, from 04 to 06; very close to the Colts training camp. It feels like a nice quiet area, and for the most part it is. Although I would not say that it is "declining", it seemed like it would have been a great place to grow up in back in the 80's or 90's. I would say that if you go to 38th street, a lot of the stores are starting to show their age and are slightly run down. But overall, seemed like a nice quiet area.

However, I should also mention, that there is a small airport there, that has a lot of planes flying in and out of it.

I never thought it to be disturbing; I rarely noticed.

Pretty much. My grandmother lives just south of Eagle Creek near Raceway Road and it is a nice area.

If I ever had to go back to Indianapolis, I'd probably choose to live fairly close to Eagle Creek, particularly just slightly to the north in 46278. Better than Geist is IMO, at any rate.
