We signed a lease for a house off 42nd between post and mitthofner for a house but haven't moved in yet while going to paint yesterday a neighbor made the comment that we'd be sorry if we rented that house to her friend (we are a white family with 3 small girls) should we move in or just take the loss of money and look else where. Would like opinions asap where we can figure out what to do thanks in advance

I would be hesistant to rent a house in that area without knowing things like who lived there before and how long it has been vacant. Actually, I would want that info regardless of the area I was looking to rent. In my neighborhood and when I lived in Fountain Square, there are houses I could say "I would be sorry if I rented that house." That could be for reasons like the condition of the house, but more sinister things like the previous tenant was dealing drugs or causing trouble with others and had some enemies that would come back to that house looking for the previous resident.

I believe there have been several recent shootings in that area. Where there is gunfire, I try to move the other way. Some people don't seem to mind.

I'd run away from there now before you might have to.

42nd Street between Post and Mitthoeffer? Run away and don't look back.

I wouldn't live there if you paid me to.
