Dzien dobry! I have been monitoring this thread for quite sometime now because I'm interested in finding out if there is an Indianapolis Polonia. I have not seen signs of it, yet. But, I'm hopeful that there is a Polish Community here in Indianapolis. The most logical place for me to look is in the Polish Roman Catholic Churches and/or Polish Restaurants. But, as I say I haven't found any signs yet. I know you're out there it's just a matter of hooking up as a community and getting the word out. I will continue to monitor this Forum and search other venues. I lived in Houston, Texas for many years and didn't find signs of a Houston Polish Community. But, after looking for quite sometime I finally found a Polish restaurant called Polonia and Our Lady of Czestochowa Polish Catholic Church, too. And, as it turned out it was one of the best Polish restaurants I'd ever eaten in. I hope all of your Paczki's are fresh, sweet and full of delicious raspberry filling!

Dzien dobry! I have been desperately trying to learn Polish for 2 years in Indianapolis--and have done OK, but I've hit a wall because I have no one to practice with! For you I know that there is a Polish community organization in Indianapolis called CSI - Polish Cultural Society of Indiana at PolishCSI but I feel like a nerd being non-Polish and joining their group. I'm sure you'd fit right in! (Jealous!)

Let me know if you wanna grab a drink and speak broken polish.
E

Is there a Polish area of Indy? We are moving from Philly in May and I'm not sure where I will get my keilbasia and perogies. There is a huge Polish area in Philly with lots butchers and bakeries. It would great to find a butcher or a restaurant.

not so much here ... there's a great pork store in indy:
Claus' German Sausage and Meat Market

as for pierogies ... I don't know of anywhere that makes them in the Indy area ... would love to find a place though. At least I can make my own galumpki ... and believe it or not, kroger, of all places, sell Paczki and I actually found some pierogi there last week too.

Yeah, Indy doesn't really have a strong centralized Polish community. You'd have to go up to South Bend or the Region (NW Indiana) to get that.

I am just divorced. I have no family to help me and no job. I would love to live and work in Indianapolis but I don't know anyone there that I could stay with. Any ideas?
