I live in Chicago and have been looking for years for a job in indy, but with few interviews. The only other cities I have been looking have been st louis, chicago, and milwaukee. I have gotten calls from employers in all of these cities much more often than indy, even though indiana is supposed to have a decent economy. What gives Indy? I think the true reason for the brain drain is just the lack of decent jobs.

Perhaps you simply don't have what employers here are looking for?

Ide like to hear your theory about what is so different about the employers in Indy than the three other cities I mentioned.

Why would they be pickier? I was hoping for a post from someone who actually knew what they were talking about. Not just making up explanations with no reasoning. The employers suck anyways in Indy relative to the cities I menttioned. They're definately pickier in Chicago with all the people coming from great colleges.

Its probably higher finding a job in Chicago.. tougher competition I would think but it depends on what field you are in.

Could be that for the occupation we have a larger pool of available candidates already here. Example, Lilly had a layoff of 5000. Huge % were IT (husband was one). Many wanted to stay and took similiar jobs all over the area and some even started their own consulting businesses. There is a lot of IT talent in Indy that is already here.

Yeah, you're right. I am sure it has nothing to do with your frequently terrible attitude. If your online persona is anything like your real life persona, and you came into my office for an interview; no chance I would hire you. Not that I am picky, just that you are not someone I enjoy dealing with.

So..... why are you even caring about finding a job in Indy then? I'm confused.

Lol, that's the part that confused me. I wouldn't be wanting to move somewhere that every employer "sucked" compared to employers in other cities I was considering.
