I have downloaded Google Earth. I assume it's free (it even mentioned somewhere being free during the download process.)

I have tried downloading several times (version 6). It tells me that it's downloaded. But all I can access are tutorials and things. It doesn't really tell me how to get started.

For example, how do I search for a place on a satellite map?

I know how to do it from the tutorial, but how do I get to that search bar?
I think it says "Fly To..." How do I get to that point?

Thanks.

Yes it's free, did you download it from:

http://www.google.com/earth/index.html

Fly to is in the Sidebar..... Click on View, verify "Sidebar" is checked.

Yes. But I don't see anywhere to click Sidebar. Just a menu with...
Home, Explore, Download, Learn, Connect, Help

Ahah! you are on the Google Earth download web page....

You clicked on Download Goggle Earth 6 and it brought you to another web page, the EULA page.... scroll down and you'll see a button Agree and Download, click on it and the download should start......

Good luck.....

I tried it on Chrome also. Same problem: It downloads and then I run the install. But when I go to the GE site again, it just shows me the option of installing it again.

Stop going to the website, run the program from Start > Programs

OzzyRules

I re-installed (or tried to) Google Earth after a disk replacement just a few days ago. Running Windows XP here on older machine. I've used Goggle Earth for years so I'm no newbie.

In short I think there maybe a problem with the latest version ( 6.1). I tried to install twice and experienced the same type of difficulty you seem to be having. Finally I uninstalled the whole thing, then went back and downloaded version 6.0. There's an option there to do that. Downloaded, installed and it launched and runs as it should.

FWIW
