Beside what every burr you have in your shorts about charter, it works, it is reliable, and it is the best bang for the buck available here.
Those are your ONLY choices in Asheville!!! That is unfortunate.

Yep, but we have a dozen excellent craft micro breweries to compensate, and I'm good with that

This is pretty common throughout the country. If you're in a rural enough area you get a choice between dial up and satellite let alone getting a choice of DSL or cable.

Looks like you're not too fasr from Seattle? That's a major population center and one that has a lot of tech companies, ISP's can justify the investment in infrastructure because there is lot of customers to serve.

I heard a commercial today on the radio that Charter was increasing uploads of their 12mb package to 15mb, and tripling the upload speeds. Not sure if this is only in the DFW area or national.

We ARE a rural area. Actually, Wenatchee qualifies as a micro-metropolitan area with a population of just over 50,000.

We are 150 miles from Seattle. Is that close??

The local Public Utility District laid the fiber lines. Anybody can use the lines to provide cable, telephone or internet services to the community.
