A friend of mine encouraged me to sign up with Facebook. I have to say I am totally disappointed that most of the people I looked up (good friends from years ago) do not want a relationship (even online).
Each one only replied once. Then one is angry I tagged her in a few photos. I am so fed up with the whole thing and so far I think I have posted several threads about 'how you can't go home again.' Reminiscing is apparently for the select few. The rest of us, well, better to forget.

i do not like social network sites, and now make it a point to hide from cameras. I get so tired of people coming up to me at random saying, "hey I saw you on ******'s facebook page", and sometimes its a facebook page belonging to a person I don't even know.
I don't even have a facebook page, yet i still have no privacy.

Wow. Sounds like you know a number of antisocial (or unreasonable) people.
If they don't want to be friends with others or tagged in photos, then why exactly are they on Facebook?
My own experience with Facebook has been positive. It helps me informally keep in touch with a number of people, including my friends, family, and former cow orkers who now live over 1000 miles away.
No social networks for me. My wife seems to like them. That's as close as I want to get.
Same for me, and who is my wife 'networking' with? It is the same people she had been (and still is) IM'ing, emailing, seeing in person, calling, etc.
The people I want to have a relationship with, I do. The rest of them, I just don't care. The only grand kids I care about are mine, the only vacation I care about is mine, the only _________ I care about is mine; Don't bore me with yours, and in return I won't bore you with mine.
I love them because people find me on there that have met me at some other time. I love to keep in touch with people.
Also good for some extra curricular activities if you get my drift...
