......poker, horses, dog racing, sports, stocks, slot machines, craps, even bingo where you "buy" a card and try to win money, state lotteries, etc.

The national debt might go down if they would tax the people who run the online gaming.
I thought the online gambling sites that are ran in USA are taxed?

I feel sorry for the owner of Intrade. He took a big risk by climbing the mountain.

And though the odds of winning or losing may be 50-50 based on educated guesses, you didn't mean that the chances of losing were 99.99%?

You meant, you have a greater chance of losing than you do of being sent to prison for 25 years. Right?

There is bingo in every city. There are dog racing tracks in Texas, Alabama and other states. There are casinos in New Orleans and Atlantic City. There is sports betting, and poker, and slots in Nevada, there are horse tracks in Florida and California and New York.

I gather from all of that, no one gives a hoot if anyone indulges in any of the above.

There are laws that prohibit you from spitting on the sidewalk. Does that stop us? No.

I am more worried about what color socks I have on today, than whether big brother or whoever, is coming down on me for predicting the outcome of an event with $50, that I might otherwise spend on something REALLY bad like alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes.

Use Nevada as an example. You can do things in Nevada you can not do anywhere else. Gambling and ......ladies of the night.....

So, if these events are so immoral and wrong, why are they legal in Nevada?
They must not be moral issues at all or they would be illegal everywhere.

So, I say keep on keeping on. I like wagering on the Kentucky Derby.

Same concept as people speeding on the freeway right? People still do it.

I was a school bus driver at age 16. Some of my passengers were older than me. The point was, back then, we could get our license at age 14. So, I have been going over the speed limit, at least once a day for 4 decades. (I confess come put me in jail...)
The police give you 5-10 miles over the limit and I find that when I am on the interstate and TRYING to go 65-70 in a 65 zone, I have trouble staying out of other people's way = they are going faster than me.

Do some research and make a list of all states in the USA that do NOT have some sort of gaming or gambling. Every state has Bingo. Many states have lotteries. Many have horse tracks.

It is all the same and no one should be concerned to attract trouble.

Your question was about a website called Intrade?
I saw them on national television a few years ago on 60 Minutes, they have been on CNBC quite often, and if you use Google to search poker sites you'll find all you want.

With that much "public exposure," I am not seeing many news stories of people lining up to go to jail for using one of these sites, or wagering on a greyhound dog race, etc. How dare those people in Alabama for betting on a dog race..!!!

Interesting, these dog races, they use a fake rabbit to get them to go around the track. One track called their rabbit Casey. The announcer would say "and here comes Casey" and the dogs would be let lose to chase the rabbit. Dogs being dogs and not having a jockey, I bet on a dog, number 4. Half way around he decided to exit the race and chase a damn bird. He never finished the race.

Anyone with a fear should stay away, of course. That said, leaving now to go buy a lottery ticket. Just "1"
