If I was to only own one stock long term it would be BA all the way! BA is insane, they're basically a monopoly in aviation and seemingly get multibillion-dollar military contracts on a weekly basis. Their dividend is nothing to sneeze at either, I believe it's around 2.6% or there about.

Some other stocks that I believe are worthy of mention are GOOG, NOC, and LMT but I'd go with BA all day long.

I keep seeing old threads like this one popping up for some reason. You were 3 months early, but a good guess nonetheless.

SolarCity!

Netflix - They are the future of television and they are the best of the breed

News Corp - Conservatives are glued to Fox News and they also have very popular shows

Ruger - They make the best guns and cannot keep up with demand

Apple - They have solid fundamentals and a good dividend yield
Interesting to see this old thread pop up again...

DIS: up roughly 70%

NFLX: up roughly 320%

NWSA: down roughly 15% (as of july 2013)

RGR: up roughly 35%

AAPL: up roughly 90%

Take your pick on any quality name in the energy sector now, because you will be making good money within next 2-3 years. If I had to pick one name right now with major upside potential it would be CHK (which I did buy at the end of August around $6.30).

xom is my choice for a long term play . if we have sell off Thursday after the fed releases its info i will buy some .

i think they will benefit a lot as marginal producers are driven out of business and they will acquire the better ones .

i rarely buy individual stocks but i think at a lower price xom will be worth it .

XOM, CVX, COP, BP, etc. take your pick, you will be making good money within next 2-3 years. People will be saying shoulda coulda woulda about wishing they bought more quality energy plays, much like the 20/20 hindsight for wishing to buy more end of 2008-early 2009 for broader markets.
