I sold it last year and while I looked foolish for a while, now I look pretty smart. It has plunged from 61 to 15. I don't know why it would recover, but it might and that's why I continue to fill in my spreadsheet.

Keeping accurate records of a few companies including basic fundamentals and announcements has saved my portfolio. I recommend it.
Like so many of these type of companies, I never heard of NVTA, but if Cathie Wood had it, and it's dropped by 75%..... I am suddently more interested in it. I see they have $5 a share in cash on the books, but are nowhere near actually making a sustainable profit.

That would be everyone’s favorite day trader, bmw, that argued she was superior to Buffett. He and I had a lengthy debate about it late last year. What a difference a year makes as I see he is now shorting ARKK. The irony. I do think ARKK is due for a big bounce/short squeeze because shorts have piled in over the last couple months. The first ever non-index short ETF was even created to short ARKK. For that reason, and similar to Mathjak regarding the contrarian trade, I picked up a bunch of shares last week. Selling weekly covered calls against the position since premiums for it are very nice due to high IV.

It’s apples to oranges though. ARKK returns should be compared to TQQQ or similar high risk ETFs with comparable volatility/beta.

She’s obviously no dummy but the track record over decades isn’t there yet to compare to someone like Buffett. Having said that, I went long on ARKK last week because there’s too many on the other side of the trade. Same reason I was skeptical of ARKK late last year and early this year. Too many were piled into a long position (short interest was like 2% then, now it’s close to 30%). Hence, a subsequent 44% drop peak to trough this year. Looks to me like it’s time to go long again.

3 year return of arkk with lots of fanfare 37.04
3 year return of fidelity blue chip growth 37.57 and no one heard of sonu Kalra

5 years ago few heard of ark funds .

In fact most shareholders are at a loss in ark funds since they came in after she was in the press and her funds became known

And that’s my point. The track record isn’t there yet. This is truly a defining moment for her and Ark. If she kicks butt over the next five years, especially with this many eyes on it now, she will put many of her critics to bed. However, if she continues this decline she will suffer the same fate as Janus from two decades prior and serve as a footnote in history. Only time will tell and that was part of what I debated a year ago. I do agree with a lot of what she says so I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt but nowhere near ready to put her on the same pedestal as the GOAT.

The problem she is facing is that she may have faith in all these disruptive companies, but her fans are latecomers ,they bought high and now they are nervous so they end up selling low.
She is under a lot of stress right now,
