I am in the process of moving to Iowa City. I got the sticker shock and got over it. I found a house up on a hill in the Iowa City/Coralville border on a wooded lot. The house has Borlaug school in the backyard. Kinda' pricy noew homes. 314-345K. Is this overpriced?

I live up the Interstate in Cedar Rapids, so don't really know that much about real estate in Iowa City. However, Iowa City is the most expensive place to live in Iowa, and much more expensive than Cedar Rapids. Depending on location of the home, square footage, the going rate of other homes in that neighborhood, it could very well be appropriately priced. Larger, nicer homes in Cedar Rapids can easily go for that price and upwards.

Vastly more information would be needed to know if the house is over priced. Things with a view are very rare there, so it will impact the price dramatically. You really need to visit the area before you consider putting down roots.

I used to run out in through that area every once in a while. Its a nice, quiet little area. It always felt a touch isolated to me, just being on the other side of 218, but that can be a benefit too, if you are looking for a quieter, low-traffic area. Plus, you are still pretty close to the Fareway and other little restaurants that are over in that area. I bet you'll love it.
I always wished that they would put a tunnel trail under 218 to connect the Hunter's Run park trails over to Shannon Dr. and the trails that lead up to West High.

For places in/around Iowa City, I think you picked one of the better ones. Glad you visited the area to know if the city was too your liking. It's always dangerous when people move without having visited it first.
