I used to live out in the west end several years ago before it was developed.. we were the first ones to live on our street even. Compared to your original choice, you practically moved into Johnnie Cochran's office

Sure, we moved to the Penn Place apartments off of Pennsylvania Ave. I believe there may be a 3 bedroom upper available, not sure if its been taken or not though. We love it here, right in the middle of everything, nice, big apartment too.

Honestly, the neighborhood isn't what it was even five years ago. From my grandmother's front porch on washington (a block from Comiskey) I saw it transform from an established family neighborhood to more a low income rental neighborhood. A lot of the new people coming had no respect for neighbors or the property they were renting. There was actually a drug bust on Elm behind us during a family picnic. It got to the point where my grandparents could no longer stand living there after close to half a century and moved to a senior apartment. To add insult to injury, nobody would buy the house and they basically ended up almost giving it to my cousin.

Do you like the area you moved into? I may be relocating to Dubuque and would like to find a safe area to live with access to restaurants and a movie theatre. Is the west end this type of area? What blocks encompass the west end? Does the city have any new areas under development that you can recommend??

THe west end and Asbury areas are the places that you would want to live. Everything you mentioned is nearby. It's very conienient to live in this area. I am off of Pennsylvania Ave, near the mall... Its also newer and safe.
