If the Jews had not believed that his claims, although maybe not through words spoken directly, but they were no doubt that Christ claimed divinity with God. Why else did they crucify him. I know you will come back with...but they didn't it was someone else...but the fact that he was tried at all and sentenced to die, is proof needed that they thought they had reason enough.

Do you know how often after after confession a priest will say "Son, your sins are forgiven." do you think the priest believes he forgave the sins?

As for the Jews believing Jesus(as) claimed he was God(swt), that is possible. they did. the question is if He really did claim such. We can only read all we can and base our conclusions on what we personally find.

As for why Jesus(as) was tried. The reality is he was very much a threat to some of them, as were the Essenes. I do not know if Jesus(as) was or was not an Essene, but it seems probable. that alone would have been enough for mainstream Judaism to want him killed.

Well I am not catholic, so do not believe a priest has the authority to forgive sins. that is for God alone, but there are many examples of Christ forgiving sins. I believe Christ had authority to act so from God the Creator and Father.

Yes you are right, we can read all we can and come to our own conclusions. I think the Holy Spirit offers guidance in such matters .... And that's why I am a Christian. Because above all it feels right in my heart.
