Tomorrow, the city of Jackson will release its plans to shore up the infrastructure. For two weeks, the public will be able to view the plan and make comments.

I'm very anxious to view this plan. I don't know what to truly expect, but this is a huge step forward because our "leaders", over the years, have failed to adequately address our roads, water pipes and drainage system. It's embarrassing that people come to visit here and see how State Street in north Fondren or Briarwood Drive look like. It's like driving on the moon. My grandma's dirt road in the Delta is in better condition. It's hard to bring in new businesses if water main breaks make as many headlines as a crime.

If Jackson is to experience a rebirth, it must start with our infrastructure.

I'm thinking the city's website. I believe it was WAPT that ran a report a few days ago, saying it would be posted by 5pm today.

Does anyone know when the plan is supposed to be shared? I keep seeing it's today, but no specific time is given. I went to the city website and couldn't find anything. I'm excited and a little nervous to see the plan.

Again, it's supposed to be by 5. I haven't been on the city's website yet. It's also to be available at city libraries, but I don't know if it'll be there this weekend or Monday (or later).

EDIT: it's there now, in a PDF file. It's 40 pages.

I've seen the plan. It is rather vague on specifics, but big on goals. It's the most comprehensive plan I've seen that addresses Jackson's infrastructure.

Mayor Yarbor tweeted me, saying that what's in the website now is year one. Years two through five will release in May.

Question? In the plan for the streets where money is listed under years and to the right of a street is that the planned year for road work to start? If so there is so much construction listed for this on roads..doesn't seem really realistic anyone else notice this?

That's the impression that I get. Not every street on the list needs work, like Echelon Parkway. About County Line Road: will the city of Ridgeland also be involved?
