My husband is looking at transferring to Jacksonville, and he likes St. Augustine. I haven't been to northern FL much. Here's what we're looking for:
We have a baby and plan to have more so the most important thing is being in a very safe neighborhood with residents (as opposed to vacationers) and children. I'd like to know what the best schools are, public and private? How about a child-friendly, modern church? (I'm a universalist Christian & prefer a church concerned more with worship & community involvement than preaching fire & brimstone.) We have a yacht and would love to be on the beach or very close, definitely with a pool. I need to be near an equestrian facility where I can board my horses. Are there any areas like this? We're looking for at least 4 bedrooms and 3000+ sq. ft. and need additional guest housing. We're going to look around next week so any help would be much appreciated! I also would love to hear any B&B suggestions (preferably by the beach and we have the baby)! Thanks so much

Ok
I always tell people to seriously look at renting if only for a short while to familiarize yourself with the area
I will send some more details of where to look later today

Thank you! I like to get the facts on which areas actually fit our needs, visit and leave the rest up to "chemistry".. We could spend some time exploring but we're eager to settle into our long term home.

The first problem is the locality of the stables to housing see link below
horse stables Saint Augustine | Find horse stables in Saint Augustine, FL

Most are out of town and away from our major sub divisions.
If you are happy to live out a litttle the Moultrie Creek area will suit you Then the problem is churches which are not the type you seek in the Moultrie area
Also look off SR 206.
If you pm me I would be happy to talk with you

The b and bs are mainly in town and bayfront Marin is downtown bayfront and just by Bridge Of Lions nto get to the beach

If you will be commuting to Jacksonville, I would suggest looking north of St. Augustine in Palencia. The Golf Village Church (often called The Village Church) would be a good first place to visit. They are very active in the community, are non-denominational and modern worship. Take a look at www.camacheeisland.com for your marina needs. The marina is very protected and close to the ocean inlet.

Thank you. What about Ponte Vedra? Is there a church like this or stables near?

I would also stay at or north of the World Golf Village area if your husband is commuting to Jacksonville. The St. Augustine 206 area is getting down pretty far south for a commute.
