First, in case you have not been playing along at home (truly said tongue-in-cheek!) I am in Jax this week hanging out with my sis and her fam and trying to narrow down the part of the city I want to move to in a few months.
So, I'm down to San Marco or the beaches. Question - what is the driving time (on average) from downtown to the Jax area beaches?
Second question - I'm getting mixed reviews on Atlantic Beach. I just saw a post here on the forum in which someone said AB is their favorite beach community. But the realtor I talked to told me to avoid AB - that it's not as nice an area.
For me PVB was a little too much like suburbia. So that leaves me Jax Beach (which I've heard described as grittier, younger crowd, way more crowded), Neptune Beach (more family oriented) and then AB - where the reviews are mixed.
So, what's the scoop with AB?

IMO ... Atlantic Beach east of Seminole Rd is fantastic, from Semninole Rd to Mayport Rd is mediocre and from Mayport Rd to the ICW/ditch is somewhat iffy, trailer parks and some low-income/navy housing.
Atlantic Beach has the best beach of the 3 (Jax, Neptune or AB)
From downtown Jax to Neptune Beach is approx. 20 miles and takes approx. 35 minutes. (Unless the Matthews bridge is again closed for construction )

Thanks, Williamwebb.
So one just has to find the right part of AB, it sounds.
