I presently live in the Washington, DC area. My husband and I are moving to Jacksonville area. We are moving with the expectation our money will go further than remaining in this area. We are accustom to people with under graduate/graduate level of education in this area. In reading about the Jax area, I note the level is typically high school graduate. Are there locations in Jax where the education level is similar to WDC?

The more "intellectual" and "progressive" neighborhoods are San Marco, Miramar, Ortega, Springfield historic district, San Jose, and Riverside & Avondale historic district, and the Beaches areas.

Of course it'll be a mix where you go, so this is just very general.

Not necessarily true. We moved from D.C. about four years ago. We love living in St. Johns County.

I do miss the shopping, restaurants, and cultural offerings in D.C. I do not miss the weather, the insane cost of living, the traffic, or the overall stressful living associated with living in D.C.

We found the schools in St. Johns County to be every bit as good as the schools in Fairfax County, VA. Generally, where the schools are good you'll find a more educated population.
