In my research for black gay clubs of the past I came across a straight club/bar called the Two Spot (2-spot) on Moncrief and 45th rd. (I believe). My father tells me there was also another straight black club/bar called "The Deuce" that he thought burned down long ago. I can't find ANY information on this club and wonder if they are one and the same? Why wouldn't people refer to the 2-Spot as the Deuce?

My father is in his mid-eighties and has very bad hearing so I'm hoping someone else can shed light on this second club. Found an anonymous pic of the 2-Spot online.Click image for larger version

Please let me know if you have any info on "The Deuce."

"Christmas Day, 1940, James (Charlie Edd) Craddock opened the famous Two Spot night
club at Moncrief Road and West 45th Street. The hardwood floor of the Two Spot could
accommodate 2,000 dancers with another 1,000 seated on the main floor and
mezzanine. The Two Spot was preceded in 1934 by the Havana Club at 5606 Avenue B
by Alberto Guinart, Desiderio Guninart and Juan Machin."

Yes, I found information on the 2-Spot and a book detailing other clubs my father wasn't aware of; most likely because he was too young to have heard of them. But "the Deuce"...? That's the one that makes me wonder.

Thanks
Leon
