I'm moving to JAX from Massachusetts end of February. Would love to receive recommendations of moving companies from other New Englanders who have moved recently. Many thanks.

We've used T.E. Andresen, a United affiliate, for our moves. Offices are located in Salem and Salisbury, but they are national movers.

U-Pack if you are on your budget (vs a company's). You pack your own stuff and they ship it. They did a great job for us. Also they were flexible on arrival dates without charging huge fees per night of storage.

I am not sure if the handle private moves as they primarily deal with corporate relocation, but Budd Van lines moved us from Minnesota to St. Johns and the service was nothing short of phenomenal.

Agree with this. We used them (coming from West Coast) and were satisfied. Just be sure and pack your things really, really well as your contents will shift in their trailer.

My husband and I moved here about 5 months ago from ND and we used U-Pack for our move. We were very pleased with their service. The best part is the cost if you are on a budget. We moved 1800 miles and it only cost is 4100.00. I highly recommend them if you don't mind packing and loading yourself.

For those of you that used U-Pack, was it hard to find room for the trailer? I really want to use them but we are in a townhouse and only have a driveway that fits two cars length wise. There is very little extra parking and no street parking at all on my street.

The trailers are 28 feet long. Just measure you driveway to ensure it's long enough to fit. It could even hang out a few feet, I'm sure no one would complain as it would only be there for a few days. Our driver was very good about dropping it exactly where we wanted to minimize walking for us.

I actually hired movers to pack the trailer for us and STILL we had damage to 3 or 4 items (including a brand new end table). So box up as much as you can. If I could go back I'd have sold all our furniture and purchased new furniture here. The cost of moving it was almost as much as just buying brand new furniture with far less hassle and worry.

And if UPack doesn't work, surely you could get a few of those "cubes" dropped off by their competitors, same basic concept although their service areas seemed awfully limited (we couldn't use them).
