HAHA, this is a laughably true quote. Some of the people here are so closed-minded. One day I was getting my haircut at the SJTC and I was talking to the lady that was cutting my hair and I was telling her that I had moved here recently from NJ.

She asked me how I liked it and I said "Its ok....I do miss the lack of diversity and ethnic culture though." She then said "Yeah I know there are a lot of hispanics here huh?" I said "No there are a lot more in NJ...I think you misunderstood me....there is so much more diversity in NJ." She then said "Oh, well it is a shame with all the hispanics moving here...be careful."
ROFL! I just returned from 3 years in Colombia, and am having a hell of a time finding all my new menu items. My wife is Colombian, our daughters (grown) are all 1/2 Colombian, our sons (I adopted them) 100% Colombian. I am a Colombian resident. We love the perception of Americans everywhere, Jacksonville is no exception.

Los Angeles, "How did you survive in the worlds most dangerous City? (Medellin)... " "Oh it was REALLY hard, the crime rate is 1/4 of Jacksonville's"

Dallas, "Didn't you miss seeing blonde hair?" "Uh? No! My Colombian wife has blonde hair, amazing that South Americans come from all over Europe just like North Americans."

Staten Island, "Sure their rich, they're all drug dealers..." "Yes, some are, others take care of being the largest importers of fresh flowers to the USA, largest importers of coffee, 2Nd largest importers of Oil and Coal, and 24% of all food imported into the USA..."

Miami, "Were you afraid of all those Colombian street gangs and crime families?" "Well, I guess if I ever saw any, but the only place that has ever happened was in Coral Gables..."

So look out Jacksonville, those damned Colombians have arrived. We've been accepted with open arms. Jacksonville is a very accepting place, contrary to myth makers. Though I am from Jacksonville and an old South liberal thinker, nobody trashes Colombia, or Colombians in my presence. I am home now, but they will make you at home there. You see after 3 years in their land, your heart not only bleeds RED, WHITE and BLUE... but GOLD, BLUE, and RED. VIVA LA REPUBLICA COLOMBIA! VIVA JACKSONVILLE!

Ocklawaha
I know people from Uruguay and Argentina that have absolutely no Spanish blood. People are surprised to find out that out
