The job market in NEFL is very soft for a lot of fields, particularly the "unskilled" professions.
Do not move to Jacksonville unless you have a job lined up.

www.jaxjobs.com/

This is one of the best links available for job searching. It's hard to move to Jax unless you know where you are working. If you aren't careful, you'll end up with the commute from.... The Florida Times Union also lists jobs on their web site.

If you have more specific questions after checking out those sites in reference to where to live, please post them and we'll all be happy to help.

You might also try careerbuilders.com, or even craigslist.org. It's pretty much the same everywhere, most jobs are gained as a result of contacts, so it is harder to find a job when you are new to the area. You might also check some of the employment agencies.

Finding a job here is absolute torture. Finding a job that is tolerable, or one that you like, is even worse.

It took me a month to find an initial job when I moved, and by luck, I fell into one I actually liked two months later, which later got new management and I, along with most of the other staff, were fired without any notice (keep in mind, these are entry-level jobs). I have a job now that I really like, but because of other scheduling conflicts, I can't work there as often as I'd like, and have to find a supplemental job, which, with my schedule, isn't going well. Nobody wants to hire someone who can't work 24 hours a day, apparently.
