All you've got to do is take a look at Gradco's threads :

Saint Johns Town Center (we have a bazillion posts on SJTC, you can do an advanced search to find them ):

There's more, but this will get you started. Other areas for dining/shopping are San Marco, Avondale, Ponte Vedra/beaches - we have plenty of past discussions you can search for on these areas as well.

Jacksonville has some great restaurants. I've always found Jax magazine to have great information. I always looked to it for restaurant advice www.jacksonvillemag.com/site_articles.php?sitearticle_id=15 (broken link) As of today, Jax doesn't have a Nordstroms but the shopping is improving. There's always the outlets in St. Augustine too. You can check out the website for St. John's Town Center which is probably one of the best places to show in Jax. www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?id=857 Here is a list of some of the stores and services the "mall" offers:

For fine dining, there's Mathew's, Wine Cellar, Morton's and Ruth's Chris in San Marco; Sterling's in Avondale. At the beach I like 11 South and Medure. There are plenty of upscale bistro type places to go as well - Bistro Aix, Corner Brasserie, BB's, Biscotti's...etc etc .

Thumbs up Yum

Matthews and Medure are at the same level as the fine dining restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area (where I live now) or anywhere in the country.

They are both excellent (owned by the same person), but Medure is my favorite. You get the same exceptional service and food but with a more relaxed atmosphere due to its location (Ponte Vedra). Fantastic!

I was there again last week during my house hunting trip. Can't wait to go back when we relocate in June. Enjoy!

Medura's is one of my wife's favorites. There is also a pocket of nice restaurants now in Julington Creek at The Shops of Bartram Walk, a shopping center at the north east intersection of San Jose and Racetrack Road. There you will find two relatively new chef owned restaurants in Blackstone Grille and Heirloom's Bistro that are really good.

Drove by the SJTC on the way back and forth to JAX airport; boy-oh-boy did I want to stop and check it out after having read all about it on here. My trip was way too short to incorporate the trip to it; next time perhaps!

Maggiano's - Jacksonville Restaurant
more of a pricier Olive Garden with huge portions.
