My family and I moved a week ago in st jonhs area (Julington creek plantation) we rent a house, have 4 cars. Parking in our driveway, all are in a good condition but they are not brand new
We receive a handwritten letter from one neighbor said that is not allow have junk in driveway. I feel like is rude and not fair if we don’t want brand new car because ours work perfect. No damage, paint looks good, no loud sounds, I don’t understand this letter from, I cannot asking why he send us that because is no address in the envelope……. Any comments? He said that we can be fine for that!

When you rented the house, were you given a copy of the community standards and policies? May also be called bylaws or rules of procedures. If not, if you used a real estate agent, call her and ask her about this.

If you did receive them, read through to see if there are any rules regarding (1) the number of vehicles allowed to be parked in driveway and (2) prohibitions against other items, including "junk".

A fully functioning automobile should not be considered "junk" unless there is a specific prohibition against cars older than a certain age.

A handwritten letter from a neighbor means jack squat, lol.

When you get an actual violation notice from the association or landlord, then come back on here.

Until then, look at the rules of the association, and see if you can find anything regarding this.

My experience with associations are there are a lot of people who do not know the rules, meaning not only violating them, but thinking things are violations when they are not.

Yes, I would ignore it. Maybe put a camera outside so you can watch if anything happens to the cars..> Or, if someone leaves another note.

If you have a way to plug it in, you can get a Wyze indoor/outdoor Version 3 camera for less than $40. I have 2 outside right now, and 1 that works thru the window if you turn off night vision (the parking lot of my apartment is bright enough that I don't need night vision).

You can then find out what neighbor is the jerk...

Is a homeowner's association involved? Recalling when many HOAs didn't allow motorcycles - I'm a motorcyclist. Anyone who would leave a note on the sly has serious mental issues IMO.

Imagine being targeted for having a pristine '66 Mustang GT350 in the driveway. Reading this thread reminds me of the reason why I live in an area zoned for agriculture. The only way to fly. I'll never live in, or even near, a city again.
