Moving to Jax in June and wanted to see with which bank people have been happy to use.

Amsouth has branches here in LA and Jax and since I'll be able to travel home a few times a year I was thinking about them. My brother also has banked with Wachovia for a while and I think they have branches in Jax.

Thanks for all advice.

I go with Credit Unions 100% I love Vystar, Florida Telco is pretty good, too.

To me, banks charge too many fees for things that should be free. They are too "out for profit" and credit unions are more for the people. Just my opinion.

I prefer credit unions as well, but a lot of people dont qualify to bank their. If you dont' qualify for the credit union I use Wachovia and I like them

Default VyStar gets my vote

I'm with Daisies76 - once you go with credit unions you'll never go back!

VyStar (formerly "Jax Navy Federal Credit Union") is quite good and open to all to join ("membership" costs $5.00) - lots of locations, very competitive interest rates, and barely any fees.

well there is a local bank that will not have branches all the way in LA but is very good.. it is first gurantee bank and trust, and since barnett bank is bought up is jacksonville's oldest bank with several branches in the area and more opening up. I do not know a thing about credit unions or know anyone who uses one for that matter, but I would choose my bank over any of the large national banks anyday. Dont go to BoA because they seem to find it appropriate to issue credit cards to illegals, I absolutely do not support them now.
