I have heard good things about Academy of dance on San Jose, but have never danced there.

Thanks, DASOTA is great for a school and we will look into that, but my kids are well beyond what that provides. They train 25+ hours a week and compete all over the county.

My kids have danced at Studio K and they seem to have a really good program. Another Studio that seems to be considered in a little higher regard is Barbara Thompson dance studio - they definately take it very seriously there. I feel that Studio K takes it serious and while still having fun. Studio K is located in the San Marco/Lakewood/San Jose area where Barbara Thompson is somewhere down Beach Blvd - I know that they use to be Beach and University, but I think that have moved further out Beach now - not sure where - just heard mother's complaining about the drive! Good luck with the move - your girls will find the right spot and love it here I am sure!

I danced for Barbara Thompson when I was younger. She is tough, but very good. I had no idea she was still in business. Bambi Phillips is good too, but the last I heard she was heading one of the nutcrackers in Jax.

I just met someone who has small kids who dance at Studio K. She said Studio 1014 is supposed to be the best in the area. I googled it and it is in Neptune Beach. Does anyone know anything about it compared to Barbara Thompson. Being tough isn't an issue by the way, they have had very tough teachers, masters classes, weeks in NYC at Broadway Dance Center and Perri Dance, etc..

Also, my 13 year old auditioned and got the lead in the Nutcracker with a professional company this year. Not a studio or community theatre.

Try Barbara then. I always liked her, and she pushed me to be the best dancer possible.Neptune beach is a long haul and the traffic is bad, and you will be making trips daily. Beach Blvd is rough too, but there are more back roads.

Have any of you heard of "The Performers Academy". I think it is an all inclusive Arts School very near Douglas Anderson. I think they are more of a Pre-Professional Dance Studio rather than a Competition Studio. Anyone with feedback we would love to hear about it.
