I am considering purchasing a home from RAH in Murrabella in St. Johns. I was wondering if anyone has experience dealing with them and what your impressions are.

Greatly appreciate your responses!

Hello. My name is Don Gullion. I saw your post here and thought that I should respond. I am the Home Care Manager (a.k.a. Warranty Manager) for Richmond American Homes in Jacksonville. I am also a Richmond American Home owner. I would be more than happy to talk to you about our homes and, more importantly, our customer service. If I can be of any assistance, you can reach me at my office at (904) 541-2367.

That's a loaded question. It's most likely that Chinese drywall was used in a lot of homes from most builders in the last 5 years, not just Richmond American.

In defense of the builders....they order their Sheetrock sub to come in and sheetrock the house, and there isn't a "checkbox" on the Purchase Order where you can differentiate between Chinese or American drywall. To be angry at a builder for this is wrong. The subcontractors simply call their suppliers and order the sheetrock, they don't differentiate either. If anyone, it's the suppliers who brought it in.

If anybody, you should blame George Bush. He was in office during this time and he should have personally inspected and tested every piece of drywall that came into this country for safety and performance.

I'm not into the blame game, it's how do we identify and correct! Should there be a class action suit against the supplier??

watch out. I just purchased a 3 year-old Richmond American home with a completely poorly done driveway, my home inspector and contractor tell me it needs to get fixed asap before it caves down. Richmond American sent me to the home warranty company Residential Warranty Company which rubber stamped Denied on fixing this problem from RAH. per RWC, driveways are not covered so when RAH messes up its your fault for buying the house. so be careful.

JL Linder Group (Formerly The Vintage Group) builds in Murabella and I would recommend them over RAH all day every day. You can find there contact info here:

I have a couple buddies that use to be sales agents for Richmond American Homes, between them and their wives they have sold homes out of about every Richmond American Homes communitty in Duval and St Johns County. They now run their own Real Estate agency, and have one of the best websites for finding information on homes in the area, with nice large photos of each of the homes. They would be a great resource for learning everything you wanted to know about Richmond American Homes. Check it out:

I'm very disappointed with RA! I bought one of their homes as a foreclosure and the home has alot of problems! RA won't honor the home builder warranty due to it being a foreclosure. The rep they sent out was rude and didn't want to help us with anything! The home is only 6 years old!
