I have the opportunity to buy a 76 with low mileage. It will take money to get it running and I'm not sure (at this point) what's wrong with it. BUT IT'S MY DREAM CAR!!! And it's incredibly cheap. I'm about to buy a saddle for more.
Take all the money you have out of the bank and burn it in a small campfire. Does that make you feel good? That is the same satisfaction you will have when your 40+ year old Jaguar leaves you stranded at night in the rain with no cell phone reception.
No way to invest enough to make it mechanically sound? Can parts be had? I can get it for a grand.

Thought about parking it in a garage and having my morning coffee in it everyday just to start the day off right.
If you just want that comfy seating for AM coffee, that may be a best use for the car.
Otherwise, absent having a clear idea as to how much it would take to make it roadworthy for a few miles is a huge crapshoot. There was no way that these cars were mechanically sound when new, let alone with a few days on them. They were always a high cost item to keep running back in the day.
