Has anyone ever declined a job offer, then, a few months later contacted the company to ask for the offer to be reinstated?
I am thinking of doing this. I got a job offer a few months back but declined it. Now I am thinking of contacting the HR rep and explaining that things have changed and asking if the offer can be reinstated. I know for a fact they are hiring for the position.
I declined the offer because it didn't fit into my career plans. However, my career plans aren't working out and I'm ready to try something different. Plus, I had heard some negative things about the position and company that didn't sit well with me. But, the pay is great even though the work schedule and hours will suck.
You were in sales right? I have never been in such situation, but I would do it. Salespeople have thicker skin due to a lot of rejection so I say face your fears and report back. What do you have to lose?
I did this but didn't word it as "reinstate the offer". Instead, I contacted them to see if we could reopen discussions about job opportunies at XYZ company...blah, blah, blah.
They were very receptive.
You should do it.
