Entry level accounting role for a great organization, general accounting duties, heavy inventory control position. 3-5 years relevant experience. Please submit your resume with contact information, education and detailed work history for immediate consideration.

Salary: 3k DOE

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------So what is this job scooter? Is this an "entry level" job or is it a job requiring 3-5 years of relevant experience? It can't be BOTH can it? It appears to me they are looking to pay entry level pay but want applicants to have 3 to 5 years experience.

Craigslist is notorious for publishing job postings with vague and/or misleading job descriptions. If the posting doesn't include a REAL company name or email address (nothing with Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc), regardless of how wonderful it sounds, I never respond to it.

I would agree with that assessment.

I have responded to ad's on craiglist that end up being OTHER things. It drives me crazy. Once I found an ad for a one bedroom apartment that ended up being just some company with a website, they forwarded their link to me, I was seriously annoyed.

Actually depending on the field.....having the required 3-5 years experience will DISQUALIFY you from the job

I've been on more interviews than I can count when I tried to switch to related fields where I lose out to a 0 experience college grad.

Finally one interviewer stopped me after 5 minutes and told me I was "shooting too low" and these entry level jobs are just lies.

Many entry level positions are are actually dead end but they want to weed out the 800 applicants. Many want to raise newbies in the company way and have little interest once your 2-3 years experienced.

I can't imagine how many applicants you'd get if you put "no experience required!" for a 45k+ job. Probaly 4,000+

well we have to give some credit because it is from Craigslist...

At the same time I have seen many ads not on Craigslist that list the wonderful "Entry level 2-3 years of exp needed"

Which begs the question if I have no exp and I am looking for an entry level job, how will I get the entry level job if I don't have the 2-3 years exp?

I hope that internship counts as exp, and if you are unlucky enough to not get an internship, then I really don't know.

It's to lower the applicants who apply......If you have the 2-3 years of experience you ironically will not get the job.

Entry level = newbie/no experienced preferred

Some employers actually laughed at the fact I applied with experience.

"Wow, I couldn't even read the emails when I got here! Your training will be so easy!!" or some variation is what I commonly heard"

Another favorite

"nobody here knew anything before starting here....you got the job 100%"

Why would they want to hire someone with no experience when there are so many experienced people out of work willing to work for that amount? Entry level does not equal no experience, it means the lowest level available in that company/department for outside hires. We have positions where that requires 5 years experience, with higher level positions requiring more than that. The result is a very talented workforce in a specialized industry, but with the average employee age 49 that may be a problem when they all retire.

Agreed.just because it's entry level does not mean it has to be 0-1 years of experience. With 3-5 years you are still much entry level. I mean most people at least work 30+ years. I think i makes perfect sense that entry level is 3-5 years. I mean if you are expecting 3-5 years into your career to mid to senior level out of a 30 year career well lets just say I got bad news for you.
