Well I only faxed the resume once and never heard anything. All my interviews came from emailing my resume.

Same thing ... If a job seeker held out only to jobs which she/he could email a resume just because they refused to do online applications, they would be extending their time unemployed. The average job seeker does not have the luxury of going the 12 months without a job.

I think I did one online application which was Comcast and after that I was done. Too long of a process

Yeah but if it leads to employment, a job seeker should invest the time and effort in applying online (as well as other methods as the job requires). Can't be too selective about the methods of applying or else the job seeker could find themselves among the long-term unemployed. Of course, this should be combined with networking as well.

I think the problem is I wasn't able to complete some of the application and go back to it 15 mins later. It would constantly log me out which meant I had to commit 40 straight mins of completing the application without doing anything else.

heh got to watch that, if you "idle" for too long you get kicked off then have to do it all over again!

I remember thinking taleo is tedious to use for online applications but have used it several times, but I don't recall the second name you mention, kenexxa.

And the programs kicking you out after being idle for 10 minutes or so, that can be annoying when applying online. All in all, many online application websites with an extended application processes are not very user-friendly.

I do think that job applications should allow for the candidate to save their work and return later but how is completing an application for 40 minutes straight any different than working 40 minutes straight at a job? That's the way I view completing an application. If job applicants spent the same 40 hours per week doing job hunting, networking, applying, etc as they would with a full-time job, they might find better results.

No one on this planet does ONE THING for 40 minutes straight. Even at work when I;m doing something work related I am checking my emails or facebook or getting up to go to the water cooler.

There is no such thing as doing something for 40 straight minutes whether you are at work or home in 2013.

Sounds like you have an issue with staying focused and on task ...
