YES!!!! Why would you do that? It is so easy these days to get an email address at gmail or somewhere else. I wouldn't want to take a chance on it getting back to my current employer that I was looking. Also it is probably at least a technical violation of some companyy rule to use your work email for personal business.

Agreed, most employers don't mind an occasional personal email using the company system but in a case like this they would most likely enforce any rules about using company equipment/software for personal business. You probably don't want them to know you are applying elsewhere, and you may be surprised
to know that your manager can get IT to access to your work email, because the employer owns it.
Always assume that someone at your company has access to all of your emails. I never send any personal emails via my work email address. When I took over for the person that had my position before, the first thing my company did was give me access to all of his emails for the past 6 months so that I could see what he was communicating to clients.
If you are trying to get fired or have an uncomfortable conversation with your boss, continue to use your work email address to look for work.
Current work email should NEVER be used when applying to jobs at other companies. The only time current email is ok is when you are trying to transfer for a promotion/other job within your same company.
Take 2 minutes to create a free yahoo or gmail email account that you use specifically for your job search going forward.
Strongly advise against it. As other have said, emails are always monitored. Most organizations today have a data loss prevention policy. And what they look for are typically confidential information. But more often than not, they also look for things like resumes, internal memos etc. It's one thing to have your communication recorded and potentially be pulled by a manager. It's another when you send something that throws up an alert.
Also - how is that going to look to the companies you're applying to when it's pretty evident that you are abusing your current employer's resources?
Don't do it. I automatically disqualify applicants who do this. It shows very poor judgement and total disregard for workplace rules. I don't need to add a person with these qualities to my team.
Using your company provided email to apply to other companies is a lot like using your wife's cell phone to call your mistress. It may seem like a good idea for a minute, because that's the one available, but it's shortly going to cause a huge problem in your life.
