Yes, but there are TONS of jobs other than the ones you mentioned that his skills would/could transfer to plus I think he said he got his masters while he was caretaking. Even with the careers you mentioned, people fresh out of college go for jobs like that without any experience so what is the difference? This gentleman has more transferable skills than college grads do.
Exactly, I will add there aren't many more jobs such as caregiving that show dedication and responsibility.
It's not a Mon-Fri job, it's 7 days a week, 24 hours a day when you're caregiving for someone at home.
Right there it shows you have reliability and can handle stress.
Most places that require you to complete online applications usually post fake jobs and you have to know someone to get in the door.
That is so not true. Where are you getting that info from? Yeah, online applications are a pain in the butt to fill out but let's not go to extremes and make false statements like that. And sure, you may not hear back on many of those applications but it is not because they are fake job ads. And just because you have not received good results with them doesn't mean everyone else has bad results.

I think Online Applications are easier to deal with when you are already employed because getting a response is not as important as it would be if you are unemployed. When you are unemployed it's different because time is running out and someone may not want to spend that much time on a application if it's not going to lead to a call back. I think when it comes it civil service test or online applications it's better to do those when you are already working.

There is absolutely no general logic in anything you are saying. That may be your personal experience or frustrations but definitely not something you want to advise others to do. ANY job lead is a good lead so please don't discourage others to not apply for a job if they have to fill out an online application.
Sure, no one should ever put all their eggs in one basket and just fill out online applications all day, day after day and not use other means to apply for jobs. But to tell people they are worthless and they are fake jobs or only use them if you are employed is just not good advice to anyone.

I am not telling anyone on here what to do when seeking employment just saying that online applications are probably less irritating if you are have a job.
Then why bother posting it at all? It doesn't offer anything helpful to anyone. If it is posted then people see it and assume it is advice of some kind.

Because some people on here don't like completing online applications which is why I recommend jobs ads with gives you the option of emailing your resume.

Do you ever read what you write before you push "submit reply"? Do you ever absorb what others with way more knowledge and experience than you carefully and patiently try to explain to you before leaping to argue? It's not surprising that you've been laid off as a "job counselor" several times and at 40 years of age have remained stuck in low grade jobs ostensibly "assisting" felons and needy seniors in their hunt for employment. You live hand to mouth, have no assets and are no better off than the people you're employed to help. You back pedal and waffle incessantly and have been repeating the same dreadful "advice" for years. It's a shame that those who need help don't have a better role model to guide them - the blind leading the blind.
