I've received a job offer paying $12k more plus a $4k bonus at one year of employment. Med/Dental fully paid and 4 weeks of PTO.

I don't particularly dislike the company I work for, but I know they're cheap and I'm underpaid. Also do not enjoy the work environment at all...co-workers are nasty and have it out for you.

Is it worth it to pack up and go for a $12k increase? Seems like a bit, but with taxes I dunno.

Tough question. There's always the chance of jumping from the frying pan into the fire as far as co-workers and office environment are concerned, but an additional 12K a year, even after taxes, is pretty substantial as long as things such as longer commuting costs, parking etc. don't eat into it.

The old adage that you can't get ahead without taking risks is true. Only you can decide whether or not the risk is worth the potential reward.

someone had a thread that reminds me of this...
//www.city-data.com/forum/work-...interview.html

pick your batles/jobs with a long term view... grass isnt always greener and12k may not mean much to you if you already earn enough

why not work both? get the first job as part time and new job fulltime? sure 60 hour weeks for 6 months suck, but you get extra money and know if you dont like job, you can go back... or drop first job if you like second one

i do well in working prn to pick up different skills and extend network at other places... one weekend a month isnt much to me and just that extra weekend gets me 8k a year extra
