A positive workplace culture is an important factor in job satisfaction , and a toxic environment can be detrimental to your health and productivity. But how do you know what a company's office culture is like before accepting a job?
To find out, Wharton business school's top-ranked professor, Adam Grant , suggests using this one simple question during the job interview process: "Ask them to tell you a story about something that happens in the organization that would not happen anywhere else," he says

I think this is a great question. Not just to find out more about the company but because it's an interesting question that I think will intrigue an interviewer. If I were interviewing and was asked this, I would say "wow, that's a great question. Let me stop and think for a minute"
My other go-to questions are usually asking the interviewer more about him or herself, what their background is and how they ended up where they are - most people like to talk about themselves anyway, but it's helpful to get at least some sense of what kinds of things that organization values. And I try to come up with a couple of specific questions about the company - things in the news, something specific about a particular product or service they offer, etc.
But now I have a new one to add to the list. I'm not job hunting but it's always good to be prepared!
