CD Members,
I have a job interview tomorrow. I'm going for a position to be an apprentice for a Journeyman electrician. I have a pair of black dress pants and a blue long sleeve shirt that is dress type. Both are very nice looking. I'm wondering if I can show up in a pair of nice new jeans and a nice polo shirt and still be ok? This company has offices in 4-5 different states, Pretty big.

Any help would be greatly accepted.

I would go with the black dress pants and blue shirt. For an interview for a position such as yours, it is not overdressed.

Good luck BTW!

I agree. Always err on the side of looking better than you need to. No harm in that.

In my first sales job I was on a training course with other sales people from all walks of life.

A very good piece of advice was this- dress as your customer (or interviewer in this case) dresses when they dress up.

I hope you understand that!

So I'd go with what the ones above say.

Gloria Vanderbuilt once said wearing a blue shirt shows confidenance.
Blue is symbolic for confidenance.

Grey or blue wool or cotton dress trousers, pressed
blue or white dress shirt, long-sleeves, pressed
black shoes, shined

Avoid black pants, they make you look like a waiter.

Good luck.
