I have been looking at the job market this week and I found for some positions Id need 3 lifes to meet requirements.

*Before reading further just to clarify I´m working right now with the same employer, same department, same place.

Currently Im still working in the same company, an international employer with about 50k employees spread all over the world. At the moment Im Senior Data Analyst, i got this promotion from Analyst to Senior Analyst after 1 year and 11 months. I have now 2 years and 3 months of experience combining Data Analyst/Senior Data Analyst in this company and 6 months in another one as Trainee Data Analyst, very similar role. Rest of my experience is not related with this field but engineering. During this time I worked with regular reports, improving quality and processing data of such reports, developed new automations (on request for business or proactively for my own reports), saved time and costs to the company with continuous improvements, Im currently training staff placed overseas, I also developed dashboards with strong visualizations in Power BI and most important one implemented a new BI system ensuring quality of data compared to SAP and another BI system, working closely with a team of developers placed overseas.

I discussed with my wife that job market is complicated and also that I found in Linkedin that most of the jobs Im interested in usually asks (being some jobs even more strict)
  • 2 or 3 languages (but some of them luckily only English is required)
  • 3+ or most typically 5+ years of experience in same field
  • skills/expertise in x,y,z,... software
  • desirable x or y specific certification

My wife suggested me internal job applications instead and in a quick look I found requirements of my employer´s internal job market are easier to meet but if you find the same job in Linkedin requirements are harder and more strict.

I´ve never been in this situation before, having the opportunity to apply internally. I like my job a lot but the country I´m based has low salaries and is difficult to support a family with low salaries. I´m interested to find a similar role in better countries. However, how to convince an employer, the same or another, that I want a change because salaries here are low?

It’s unlikely that you’ll get a huge raise in pay if you take a different position at your current employer. You likely need to move to a different company.

If your employer has employees all over the world, doesn't it make sense that they want people who can speak several languages?

What country are you in, and what countries would you like to go to?

Im in Slovakia as I had to start somewhere. The countries Im interested to apply internally are: Germany (HQ place), Netherlands (where most of the planning is done) and also northern Europe (but in these countries there are few openings).

I know there was a person who succeeded to relocate from Slovakia to Germany. Also I have a colleague is now moving to another area within Slovakia being junior. Relocations/rotations are somewhat usual in this company. I dont need to do it now I can wait until I have the skills and/or years of experience. My colleague who is Junior has 3 years of experience here, Im Senior with 2 years and few months of experience here.
