Hey, guess what? The same company that said I "lacked enthusiasm" called me for another interview, its a different position in the same company! I reminded them they had already interviewed me and felt I "lacked enthusiam" their reply--perhaps this position will interest you more!
Now I know its a ton of crap! I will interview with them if they take me to lunch--at a nice place! I can be "enthusiatic" about a nice steak! Schedule interviews during lunch--you might get something, perhaps a WhataBurger!

You seriously told them that? I'm starting to see why you're having a tough time in interviews...
I went through the same B.S. as well. After my job slot was eliminated, I applied for many jobs and interviewed at a few, same thing. Waste of my time to go to the interview and also hope I might get something to find out later, they already had someone in mind. If someone is alredy picked, why go through this formality !

Its all really dumb and some things need to be updated in these Fair Labor laws, as they are WAY to easy to get around and waste too many people's times (both the interviewer who has to "act" like its serious and the applicant who has no clue they are being used in a sense)
