Oh wowie~! That is what I am saying, ya just don't know what goes on behind closed door~! So, can someone tell me exactly what "Glatt Kosher" is~? I think Glatt is a brand, correct~? How does that differ with other brands or markings of K or OU~?
For several reasons, Kosher certification is NEVER as good as preparing one's own food in one's own kitchen. That's why many Jews will never eat commercially prepared food, and/or will only eat meat and poultry slaughtered under their own supervision. (Yes, such people do exist)
Then, not all supervision is created equal. One should familiarize himself with the level of stringency in the kosher certification before eating food with any certification.
Lastly, there's always the element of "scams" and "loopholes" of which to be wary, which is why it is most helpful if the business owner himself is to be trusted. No system is foolproof, and greed corrupts the most pious.
