I’ve been inside the Cambridge cathedral one time when my husband was stationed in England, not during services either. I don’t know if I saw the whole thing or not. It wasn’t a tour. They kept the door unlocked. I don’t remember the sanctuary, just a long hallway with candles burning.
I haven’t been to church in almost 25 years, since we’ve been married.
Churches, they preach AT you, Synagogues , they teach TO you, which I like.

I like to look at the graves they have in the floors of the cathedrals. It's so weird -- people being buried right there under the floor! And everyone walks over them. Crazy. lol

Well FDR is fittingly buried underneath the FDR Drive in New York City, a perfect monument to traffic congestion. Because he was a vicious anti-Semite his soul descended further into hell.

Wasn’t that a cemetery in the “ Sound of music” movie, at the end, when they were hiding from the Nazi boy?
That was in the cathedral.

He was almost worshiped in my parent's generation, especially among Jews. Sadly, he was a fraud and they were wrong.

As for alternative and possibly sinful non-worship activities in the shadow of Yom Kippur, see Was Missing Torah Study a Sin or a Mitzvah?

Didn't he send back a boatload of Jews who were seeking asylum in America during the Nazi regime? Shameful. And I'm not just concerned about fellow Jews, either. Those who seek asylum whom we know are going to be killed, whomever they are, should be helped as best we can. Just my opinion.

I do like his wife, Eleanor, though. Like Charles Dickens, she started out as an antisemite, but (also like Dickens) she learned and grew when she actually met and became friends with some Jews.

Yes, the Saint Louis, subject of the book and/or movie Voyage of the Damned.

I am interested in reading about both people's education on that subject. Can you help me with a source?

It was him.
That would of only been about 20 people for each state .It was Cuba and Canada also. They would of accepted any country , just to get out of Europe . Our worst and dirtiest slums were heaven compared to anything there.Imagine being in their place and feeling the ship turn back around, knowing what you were going to face
