On the positive note, the newest business on the square is "Xcel Pet Motel" located at Xcel at 104 E Lexington Ave. So if your pets need a vacation, that's the place to go! I know they do grooming there... walked by there yesterday and a dog was getting a bath and a trim from within view of the window. :P

Internally, was it all bank?

There were five floors when I was a kid and I think they added a sixth years later.

Also, when I was a kid the first two floors were bank related. The rest of the floors were rented out to professionals such as Dr. Agee, a local Osteopath. State Farm also had an office on one of the floors.

Today the bank is only using the main floor, and has an ATM in the lower lobby off Liberty. I suspect many of the upper floors are vacant.

It would be nice to see a restaurant on the top floor. There are great views of Independence from up there.
