What time frame is your info from?
The ad is from 1959. The dry cleaners was there into at least the 1970s. I saw it everyday on my first paper route, although it was on the wrong side of the highway for my route.

d. The first Jackson County courthouse cost $150.
e. All of the above.

Tsk. Tsk. The correct answer is e. All of the above.
I thought someone would surely question “c. The federal government cleared the area of the Sioux prior to the founding of Independence.”

The Indians of the area were the Osage, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri and they all warred with each other. However, they were all Southern Sioux—vs the Northern Sioux: Lakota, Teton, Yankton, etc.

Without crossing any state line to get there, what Indian nation has its headquarters 80 miles from Independence Square? You can get on one street in Independence and travel there without changing streets.

Would that "street" be US 24 Highway?

In 1959 your family built a home on Sullivan. You grew up there, went away to college, and then came home for a visit. You are geographically challenged, so you program your GPS to take you there. It refuses, as Sullivan no longer exists. You call Mom, and she assures you they haven't moved. What street name do you need to use to find home?

It would be nice to see a restaurant on the top floor. There are great views of Independence from up there.
