Yeah Springfield is very conservative but I am mainly downtown and it is much more liberal. The downtown area has really turned around and is looking better every month! The traffic has gotten worse but it is still not that bad compared to larger metros.

A few people have talked about KC being good for families. I am single in my mid twenties and into art. I am looking at Denver and KC or where I can just get a job!

I grew up in the KCMO area (Independence) and lived there until I was 27 (in 2005). I decided to go back to college and moved to Columbia, Mo. I miss KC and am not too comfortable with the CoMo area. I've lived here since, but I graduate in December and plan on moving to Albuquerque with my new wife. (Just married in May)

I've got to say I'm going to miss the KC area, and it looks like there is some good growth ( new Sportman outdoor center in as well as a planned Lamberts in Independence) and I am awed to hear about the sliterbauns coming to KC. I love the one in San Antonio!

Albuquerque from what I can tell is a much smaller city ( Metro area 816k, city only a bit above 500k) so not sure what to think about that. I think I might like the mountains and the climate is milder than KC so who knows. I cant stand the snow and the cold. Cost of living is about identical to KC though, and the unemployment was half of what it was in KC in 2007 (KC: 6.6% vs ABQ: 3.3%).
