I’m relocating to Kansas City in August, I will be attending Avila University and I’m trying to get some information about the best areas to live….
I would like to live in a luxury complex in a luxry district, has parks, restaurants, and shopping malls around.
I don’t really care that much about the distance to school because I’ve evening classes 3 days a week.
So, can anybody please name some areas or give me locations?

Leawwod KS, and/or the southern part of Overland Park, KS. Leawood I believe has only one apartment complex.

Raymore, Lee's Summit, MO, and the Plaza in KCMO. All will have easy access to Avila.

If you head for the Plaza you can get very, very high end. You need to define "luxury". For some people that is modern construction, gated, amenities and high rent to keep it exclusive.

For others it is inlaid marble floors and a doorman.

Are we talking The Walnuts or what?

Sounds like Crashcop has given you some great areas to begin your search! Do you plan to rent or purchase a home? Some of those areas have nicer rentals than the others. And, you can get more home for the money in other areas. You should spend just a couple of hours w/ someone that knows the area once you get time to visit. A nice drive will give you a good sense on what areas you might be most comfortable in. Best wishes on your move and enjoy!

The Plaza area is one of the best areas to live for shopping, restaraunts, bars, and city life. It would be about a 15-20 minute drive to the Avila campus (which is pretty reasonable in KC). The Plaza has apartments for rent, and condos and houses you can purchase. I like living on or near the Plaza because you can walk out your front door to a variety of fun things to do. The Plaza is a popular area for people in thier twenties and thirties. If you want to live there you have to look hard for apartments that are new and luxury.
I'll make some recommendations because I am in the process of looking for a new place to live too:
Fountainview on the Plaza is about $850-1000 for a one bedroom. It's a gated community on the Plaza. It has a pool, fitness center, private parking, and nice floorplans.
Dunlieth Towers has smaller floorplans but a really good location and I think they've just been remodeled. No pets.
45 Madison is brand new- really luxury- good square footage. And they start at $870. It's two or three blocks (walking distance) to the Plaza.
Founders at Union Hill is what I went with for myself. They are brand new also- about $1000/ month. It's about a five minute drive to the Plaza. I like this one because the apartment is Beautiful- granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, private parking garage, huge windows, big apartment, and a very nice kitchen.

I would also look in Overland Park and Leawood- which put you right next to the Avila campus. There are tons of apartment communities. Look at rent.com or apartmentguide.com. OP and Leawood are suburban but there is good restaraunts, shopping, ect. The nightlife is just more fun on the Plaza.

Good luck!

Avila is a decent education. You might also look at Rockhurst. They have a well respected executive MBA. There is also UMKC and the Overland Park campus of KU if you want a degree from a larger school.

For the original poster. I think others gave you some great reccomendations. Depends on if you prefer suburbs or city living. The plaza is for you if you like city living. If you prefer the suburbs go with Leawood/ South Johnson Co.
